The Awakening of Insects (Jingzhe) is the third solar term in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, usually occurring on March 5th or 6th each year. It marks the beginning of mid-spring. As temperatures rise, spring thunder begins to sound, hibernating insects and small animals are awakened, and all things in nature start to revive.
